Dear Maxson Families,
Our students will soon take the California state test (CAASPP). This helps us see how students are learning and how we can support them.
💡 How You Can Help at Home - 📚 Read daily (20 minutes) – Ask your child what they read
- ✏️ Practice math facts – Have them explain their thinking
- 😴 Get enough sleep – 8–10 hours each night
- 🍎 Eat breakfast – Start the day ready to learn
- 💬 Encourage effort – “Do your best and don’t give up”
🎯 In class, we are teaching students to: - Read carefully
- Show their thinking
- Check their work
- Keep trying, even when it’s hard
❤️ Our Goal as Falcons We want every student to grow, feel confident, and do their best.
Thank you for supporting your child and Maxson!
Sincerely, David Herrera Principal, Maxson Elementary |

As we head into summer, we want to thank you for your continued support this school year.
Beloet small, simple habits at home can make a BIG difference!
☀️ Helping Your Child Stay Strong Over the Summer:
1. 📚 Read Every Day (20–30 minutes) Reading is the most important activity to keep skills strong. Let your child choose books they enjoy and ask them to tell you about what they read.
2. 🏫 Attend Summer School Summer school gives students extra support and helps them stay on track for the next grade level.
Registration for MVSD's 2026 Summer School Safari is OPEN NOW via 6Crickets. See more details in the next section.
3. 🚫 Limit Screen Time Too much screen time can impact sleep, focus, and learning. Encourage more play, conversation, and hands-on activities instead.
4. 🛒 Make Learning Part of Daily Life Turn everyday moments into learning: - At the store: add prices, estimate totals
- At home: measure ingredients, count, organize
- Chores: build responsibility and problem-solving
5. 📖 Visit the Library & Stay Active Libraries offer free books and summer programs, and daily exercise helps improve focus, mood, and overall health.
❤️ Our Goal as a Falcon Family We want every Maxson student to return in August confident, ready, and growing. A little practice each day makes a big difference!
If you have any questions or need support, please contact our school—we are here to help. Thank you for being our partners in your child’s success. |
At Maxson, our Maxson VEX Robotics program is in its early stages, but it has already generated incredible interest and excitement among our students. We are proud to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that build essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. Even in its infancy, our VEX Robotics program is giving students opportunities to think creatively, work collaboratively, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. One of the most exciting aspects of the program is seeing students teaching and learning from one another, building confidence while growing their interest in technology. Most importantly, our focus goes beyond robotics—we are helping students develop strong problem-solving skills that will support their success both in school and in the future. |
Community Schools bring together educators, families, and community partners to support the whole child. By integrating academics with health, social-emotional support, and enrichment opportunities, Community Schools create a safe and inclusive environment where students can thrive.
Through strong partnerships and family engagement, Community Schools at Maxson Elementary and the Mountain View School District, provide resources and services that address student needs, remove barriers to learning, and promote academic success and well-being.
A few examples of this have been our on-campus dental and vision check-ups through our partnership with Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, our extended learning opportunity programs afterschool through Max Learning, adult and family educational courses through our partnership with Río Hondo College, and food pantry programs at Maxson and our MVSD Family Center.
If any of our students or Falcon families need support, please contact the Community Schools Site Lead, Vicky Reyes at vreyes@mtviewschools.net. |
Max Learning provides free, high-quality afterschool classes through Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). These programs offer enriching experiences that support student growth beyond the school day in a safe and engaging environment.
Students can participate in HFA Sports (soccer, tennis, and basketball), building teamwork and physical fitness. Windtree’s STEAM classes promote creativity and problem-solving, while LIFT Healthy Cooking teaches nutrition and life skills. Cultural Bytes offers Spanish and Mandarin, helping students build language skills and cultural awareness. Additionally, the YMCA Model United Nations (MUN) program develops leadership, public speaking, and critical thinking.
Max Learning is committed to enriching the whole child through meaningful opportunities for learning, exploration, and personal growth. |
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 100th Day of School at Maxson as our students participated in a fun, themed day! It was a day full of learning, laughter, and school pride.

Each year, Aeries, our student information system, requires that each student’s data and information is confirmed as accurate by their family PRIOR to student registration for the next school year.
At ANY time of the school year, all families are encouraged to log in to the Aeries Parent Portal to update their student data, such as:
- Family phones and emails
- New addresses
- Photo/Media & Yearbook Authorizations
- Emergency contants
- and more!
2026-27 Annual Data Confirmation (DC) The annual data confirmation (DC) that happens every July is required before a student can be confirmed to begin the school year.
To complete the data confirmation, please log onto your Aeries Parent Portal, review your students’ emergency contact information and other important entries and make any necessary changes, as it is critical that your childrens’ schools have the most accurate and up-to-date information in our Student System.
If you have any questions about Data Confirmation, please contact Student and Family Support Services at (626) 652-4982. |
On a beautiful spring day in early March, the Maxson community—students, staff, and families—came together to celebrate our “Race into Reading” event.
Families joined us on campus and shared a joyful time reading with our students. Smiles, laughter, and the power of words filled the campus as students were highly engaged and excited to listen. We are grateful to our parents and staff for their time, support, and hard work in making this event so special. |
We are proud to celebrate our students for their hard work and growth this spring! During our April celebration, students were recognized for making gains in Language Arts, Math, SOAR behavior, and Attendance.
Students received certificates, gift cards, and pencils to honor their effort and progress. It was a joyful event where families joined us to celebrate their child’s success—we loved seeing our parents share in these special moments! While the awards are exciting, what matters most is the hard work behind them. Our students are building the skills they need to master grade-level standards, grow in confidence, and truly flourish as learners. That effort and growth will carry them far beyond any award.
We want to give a big thank you to our teachers and staff for their dedication, and to our families for your continued support. Your partnership makes a difference every day.
🎉 Keep Going, Maxson Students! We are proud of you—stay focused, keep growing, and finish the year strong! |
At Maxson, student safety is always a top priority.
Each month, we practice school safety drills so students know what to do in different situations, such as: - fire drills
- earthquake drills, and
- lockdown procedures
These drills are conducted in a calm, age-appropriate way to help students feel prepared, not scared.
We make sure both staff and students are well-prepared, with directions that are clear and easy to follow. Every drill involves our entire school community—from Head Start through 6th grade—so that everyone knows how to respond safely. Staff members review expectations with students and provide support throughout each drill.
We also take time to reflect and improve our practices to ensure we are always ready and responsive. Safety is essential at Maxson, and our goal is to keep every student safe, confident, and cared for at all times. |
